Transcriber

Terms of service

The service

Ounie Transcriber ("we", "us") turns audio and video you supply into timestamped text, using a speech-to-text provider behind our transcription engine, at your direction. You ("you", "the customer") pay per minute of audio at the rates published on our pricing page. We are an independent Ounie product.

Account & billing

There is no subscription for this product. Transcription is billed in Ounie credits (1 credit = 1¢) from your shared Ounie wallet, priced per minute and rounded up. Credits are reserved when you submit — sized on the length we measure from the file's own metadata — and settled on the length actually transcribed; the difference is refunded automatically. A failed, silent, or timed-out job refunds the reservation in full. If our measurement read low, the difference is absorbed by us: you are never charged more than was reserved. Credits are purchased and managed on ounie.com; your existing transcripts remain accessible regardless of your balance. Keyless x402 calls are paid per call in USDC; payment is verified before the work and settled only once a transcript exists.

Acceptable use

You may only submit recordings you have the right to transcribe, including any consent required from the people recorded. Recording laws differ by jurisdiction and complying with them is your responsibility, not ours. You will not use the service to process material that is illegal to possess, to conduct unlawful surveillance, or to transcribe communications you were not party to and have no right to. You will not attempt to discover endpoints we have not documented, bypass rate limits, or resell raw access to the service.

Your transcripts

As between you and us, you own your recordings and the transcripts produced from them, and may use them commercially. We claim no rights over either and do not use them to train models. Transcription is imperfect: names, numbers, and technical terms are the usual failures, and output is provided as-is. Review it before relying on it for anything consequential.

What we do not offer

We do not identify or label speakers, and no output field claims to. Do not treat a transcript as evidence of who said what.

Availability

The transcription engine reflects a third-party model and changes over time as it is upgraded; the provider may reject individual jobs under its own policies. A rejected or failed job refunds automatically, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Files above our size limits in containers that cannot be split are refused before you are charged.

No warranty

The service is provided as-is, without warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Transcripts are machine-generated and are not a certified record of anything.

Refunds

Failed and silent jobs refund automatically. For anything else, open a support ticket.

Liability

Our liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including any loss arising from reliance on a transcript.

Termination

Either party can terminate at any time. You retain access to transcripts you have already paid for and can export them before closing your account. We may suspend accounts for material violations of these terms with notice.
